Advanced Micro Devices, also known as AMD, is an American semiconductor company, based in Santa Clara, California.

This company develops computer processors and consumer technology products.

Its main products are processors, chipsets for motherboards, auxiliary integrated circuits, graphics processors, workstations, etc.

AMD is the second largest supplier of microprocessors based on the x86 architecture and since its acquisition of the company ATI Technologies Inc., it is one of the largest manufacturers of graphics processing units, also known as graphics cards.

It was founded on May 1, 1969 by Jerry Sanders, Edwin Turney, John Carey, Steven Simonsen and Jack Gifford, all of them from the company "Fairchild Semiconductor".

The company started out producing logic integrated circuits, then began producing RAM memories.

In the year 1975, he made a copy of the Intel 8080 processor through reverse engineering, creating his first processor, the AMD 9080.
