To cope with the MMX instructions of the Intel Pentium MMX processors, the AMD K6-2 processor incorporated a series of instructions called 3DNow.
These instructions were superior in performance to those of its competitor, which gave AMD supremacy in the microprocessor market for the first time.

K6-2+
History
​
The K6-2+ processor was a design based on the K6-2 with a 128 KB L2 second level cache included. This increased its performance and made this processor more optimal for laptops.

K6-III
History
​
The K6-III, like the K6-2+, was nothing more than a K6-2 processor, to which a second level cache memory (L2) in this case of 256 KB had been added. This resulted in a much higher performance of the processor.
