Pentium MMX
Story

The Pentium MMX was a theoretical advance in computing. It incorporated new orders, such as multiplication.
Oddly enough, so far the processors did NOT know how to multiply. To do a simple operation like 5 x 4, the processor had to do 5 + 5 + 5+ 5

This resulted in a considerable loss of time.
With the Pentium MMX, the processors finally knew how to multiply.
A lot was expected of these processors, but the end-user change was not really so noticeable. It was a small failure for Intel.
For its part, AMD fought back with its K6 and 3DNow orders, which were similar to Intel's MMX, but improved, leading to higher performance.
SOCKET

Super 7 Socket

The Super 7 Socket was an extension designed to allow the connection of processors from other brands, such as AMD with its K6-2 and K6-III.
It allowed its operation at higher clock frequencies and to use the new AGP graphic standard.
The Super 7 socket extensions were only started if the installed processor also had the Super 7 options. Otherwise this socket acted like a normal Socket 7.
